Solar captured by day, released at night
A 250 kW / 1.8 MWh lithium storage system — two 125 kW PCS sharing one combiner and control cabinet with six battery packs — working alongside a commercial PV array of eight string inverters on a 480/277 V AC bus. Surplus generation charges the battery through the day and is discharged at night to carry the facility load. PV output above what the battery and the site can absorb is exported to the utility grid.
- Charging from true surplus only. The EMS compares PV production with site load in real time and diverts only excess generation into the battery, so array yield is never curtailed just to charge.
- Night discharge against facility load. Stored energy covers evening and overnight demand, moving PV generation into the hours when the site would otherwise buy from the grid.
- Export once the battery is full. When state of charge reaches its ceiling and daytime load is met, remaining PV output flows to the grid under the site's net-metering or PPA arrangement.
- Interconnection-ready electrical design. 480/277 V three-phase, 60 Hz, IEEE 1547 grid interface, with metering CTs and the protection, labelling and documentation package the utility's interconnection review asks for.
